Costin Custom Communications Named Emerging Business of the Year

Palatine, Ill., January 22, 2010—Costin Custom Communications was named the Emerging Business of the Year at the Palatine Chamber of Commerce’s first “Key to Success” Awards and Installation Dinner held Jan. 21, 2010. Mindy Phillips, chamber director, along with Mayor Jim Schwantz, presented the award, which was given to a member business less than three years old.

“As a marketing communications professional, there is nothing more rewarding than making a difference in someone’s business,” said Joanne Costin, president of Costin Custom Communications.  “I am honored that the Chamber chose to recognize my efforts.”

Before launching her marketing communications business, Costin spent more than 20 years in publishing, as marketing director for several leading business-to-business magazines and Web sites. “As a new business owner, the Chamber has been extremely helpful to me in building a professional network,” said Costin. “I rely on this network, not just for referrals, but also to help me handle all aspects of my business.”

Costin’s responsibilities within the Chamber include leading the Women in Business Advisory Forum; participating on the Strategic Planning Committee; and serving on the executive team of the Palnet Networking group. Costin Custom Communications has also led the promotion efforts the Downtown Palatine Business Association.

“For me, involvement in the Chamber has been a great way to showcase my talent and build trust among potential customers,” added Costin. “Our business is growing, even in this economy, because businesses and organizations want professional help, without the overhead of a big agency or without adding staff.”
